Classes
Ballet Australasia Limited offers exams for all four styles and Sydney North Dance has a history of excellent results, receiving the Senior Ballet Honours Points award on more than one occasion.

Preschool Ballet
3- 5 years
This class is delivered through games and imagery. Children learn the basics of ballet in a fun and enjoyable class through a wide variety of imaginative games, create characters, use props and learn to express emotion and sensitivity through movement and gesture.
Beginners, Pre Primary and Primary Ballet
5-7 years
The true foundation of ballet technique and discipline are slowly introduced and a strong use of imagery is combined to create fun and simple dances. Previously learned skills of characterisation and expression are built upon also.
Ballet Grades 1 to 5
8+ years
At this level students learn about coordination, flow and the dynamic of dancing, as well as coordination of port de bras (movement of the arms and head) with the rest of the body. At this stage students will learn about the effort and concentration required for the self-discipline in ballet as well as having fun in their dancing.
Senior Ballet
Grades 6, Pre El, Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced and Solo Diploma
Using the Ballet Australasia Syllabus students who reach this level have given complete dedication and hard work to their dancing. These students are highly treasured by Sydney North Dance and we give them great individual attention and an emphasis on excellence rather than perfection to nurture their talents.
Beginners, Pre Primary and Primary Jazz
Basic rhythms and steps are introduced in a fun and exciting setting to great age appropriate music.
Grade 1 – 5 Jazz
Technique, style, flexibility and strength are all targeted by using barre exercises for technique, floor exercises for core strength and flexibility and short combos for style and co ordination. Different styles of jazz are then included such as musical theatre, modern jazz and traditional in the steps section and exam dances.
Senior Jazz
These grades are highly technical and skilful. Using the Ballet Australasia Syllabus students who reach this level have given complete dedication and hard work to their dancing. These students are highly treasured by Sydney North Dance and we give them great individual attention and an emphasis on excellence rather than perfection to nurture their talents.
Tiny Tots Tap
A class for preschoolers introducing the idea of making sounds with hands and feet to music through games and fun and imaginative tap-related activities.
Beginners, Pre Primary and Primary Tap
For those in Kindy to Grade 2 at School, introducing the basics of tap technique and musicality in short dances or in fun exercises. A great building block for later Tap work.
Grade 1 – 5 Tap
For those in Primary to early high school, progressing through the BAL syllabus and covering both modern and traditional tap styles.
Senior Tap
For those who have completed their Junior Tap grades and/or have good knowledge of Tap technique and performance.
Adult Tap
If you have never tapped before and always wanted to try or if you are returning to tap after a long absence and want to get back into form.
Acro is a style of dance that introduces acrobatics to dance choreography. Students learn tricks including flips, tumbles, cartwheels and aerials that can add new and exciting elements to other dance styles. Taught by Catherine Poppell from America, this class will help improve flexibility, strength and coordination.
