History of Sydney North Dance
Screen Shot 2016-02-20 at 10.00.22 AMSince before the 1930s Miss Dorothy Dethlefs ran her beloved Ballet school where the two previous principals Lorraine Baines and Lynne Chester learned to dance, along with Robin Betts who took over the school in 1965 when Miss Dethlefs retired.

The Robin Betts School of Ballet became an important part of the lives of many young boys and girls over the next 30 years. In 1990 a 4 yr old girl by the name of Fiona started ballet classes with Miss Robin. Years later Robin passed on the school to her student Lorraine Baines who ran the School with her sister Lynne Chester until 2010 when the legacy was passed on to Fiona Maber.

The tradition at Sydney North Dance is that the students go full cycle. They start in the junior grades as youngsters and have the opportunity to become the teachers and assistants as they get older in order to keep the passion going and inspire the new youngsters. More importantly this creates more of a caring family environment for everyone.
